Nomads and The Bag of Money (Pengembara dan Sekantong Uang)

Nomads and The Bag of Money

Two Nomads were walking together in a wandering path, and one of these nomads found a bag contained full of money.

"How lucky I am!" he said, "I have found a bag containing money. Considering the weight, I think this bag must be filled with gold coins."

"Do not say 'I have found a bag of money'," said his friend. "You'd better say 'WE have found a bag of money.' Nomads always share with other nomads, both in hard and happy."

"No, no," said the nomad who found the money, angrily. "I found it and I'll keep it."

At that time they heard shouts behind them "Stop, thief!" and when they look back, they saw a bunch of people who looked angry and carrying wooden clubs and batons, ran toward them.

Nomads who found the money straightly felt scared.

"Unlucky us if they see this money bag is in our hands," he said with dread.

"No, no," answered the other nomad, "you do not say 'WE' when you found a bag of money, now keep using the word 'I', you should have said 'Unlucky me'".

We should not expect that people will bear hardship unless we share our good fortune to them as well.

A Turtle and A Pair of Ducks (Seokor Kura-Kura dan Sepasang Itik)

A Turtle and A Pair of Ducks

A turtle, which you know always carries his home behind his back, said never leave his home, how hard he tried. Some say that the Jupiter God had sentenced the turtle because he was very lazy and preferred to stay at home and not to go to the wedding of Jupiter God, although the Jupiter God had specially invited him.

After many years, the turtle began to hope that someday he could attend a wedding. When he saw birds flying happily in the sky and how the rabbits and squirrels and all sorts of animals
swiftly running, he wanted to be agile like other animals. The turtle was very sad and dissatisfied. He wanted to see the world as well, but he has a house on his back and his legs are too small and should be dragged when walking.

One day he met a pair of ducks and told his troubles.

"We can help you to see the world," said the ducks. "Hold on to this wood with your teeth and we will carry you away into the sky where you can see the entire land under you. But you must be quiet and not talk or you'll be very sorry."

The turtle was very happy heart. He quickly held the wood tightly with his teeth, a pair of ducks each of them held both ends of the wood in their mouths, and flew up into the clouds.

at that time a crow was flying across it. He was very impressed with what he saw and said:

"You must be king of the turtles!"

"Surely I ......" the turtle began to say.

But once he opened his mouth to utter these words, he lost his grip on the wood and fell down to the bottom, where he finally crashed onto the rocks in the ground.

Foolish curiosity and vanity often lead to misfortune.

"Tentu saya......" kura-kura mulai berkata.

The Donkey Wearing Lion Skin (Keledai Yang Memakai Kulit Singa)

The Donkey Wearing Lion Skin

A donkey found a lion skin that has been left by the hunters in the woods. Then he wore the lion skin and amused himself by hiding in the bushes and suddenly jumped out to scare animals that passed in that place. All the animals which happened to be passing, became frightened and ran from that place when they saw the donkey that they mistook for a lion.

Donkey was so happy to see all the animals ran away from him, as if he was a king of the jungle, so being too proud and happy, he began to roar loudly, but not the lion's roar that came out of his mouth, but only a braying of a donkey. A fox that had come running along with other animals, to a standstill when he heard the voice. Slowly he approached the donkey, and realized that scare all animals that passed in that place was just a donkey wearing a lion skin. Fox then said with a laugh:

"If you shut your mouth, maybe I'll be running scared, too. But you instead roared and grunted a raspy braying of you."

A fool may be able to deceive by the dress and appearance, but of his word, other people will soon know who he really is.

Keledai Yang Memakai Kulit Singa

The Crow and A Pitcher (Burung Gagak dan Sebuah Kendi)

The Crow and A Pitcher

In a very dry season, at which that time the birds were very difficult to get a little water to drink, a crow found a pitcher containing a little water. But the pitcher was a pitcher that high with a narrow neck. After all he was trying to drink water in the pitcher, he still could not reach it. The crow was almost feeling desperate and felt it would die of thirst.

Then suddenly an idea popped into his mind. He then took the gravel next to the pitcher, then droped it into the pitcher one by one. Each time the crow put gravel into the jar, the water level in the jug gradually increased and increased until eventually the water height could be achieved by the crow.

Although little, the knowledge could help us at the right time.

Hearing her son’s words, mother crab was trying to walk straight ahead. But she also simply could walk sideways, like how his son walked. And when the mother crab was trying to turn the toes outward, instead she tripped and fell to the ground with the nose first.

The Miser (Si Kikir)

The Miser

A person who was very stingy buried his gold in secret in a place kept secret in the garden. Every day he went to the place where he buried his gold, dug it up and counted them back one by one to ensure that no gold was lost. He very often did that so that a thief who watched him, could guess what was hidden by the Miser, and one night, the thief dug the treasure secretly and took it away.

When the Miser was aware of losing his property, he became very sad and desperate. He was moaning, pulling at his hair.

A nomad passing in the place heard his crying and asked what happened.

"My gold! .. Oh my gold!" Miser said, "someone has robbed me!"

"Your gold! In the hole? Why did you put it there? Why don’t you save the gold in the house where you can easily retrieve it when you want to buy something?"

"Buying something?" screamed the Miser angrily. "I'm not going to buy something with that gold. I never even thought to buy something with that gold." he shouted again angrily.

Nomad then took a big stone and threw it into the treasure hole that had been empty.

"Then," he said again, "cap and bury the stone, it is equal to your lost treasure!"

Treasure we have is worth a utility asset.

A Dog, Rooster and The Fox (Seekor Anjing, Ayam Jantan dan Rubah)

A Dog, Rooster and the Fox

A dog and a rooster are best friends, hoping that one day they will be able to travel the world and find new adventures. So they then decided to leave the farm and travel around the world along the road that led into the forest. The two friends were walking together in the spirit and not meet with the adventures that they often talked about.

At night, the cock, looking for a place to perch as his custom, he saw a tree with a hole and he thought the tree was very good to be a place to stay. The dog could slip into the hole of the tree and the rooster could fly to the top of one branch of the tree. Both then went to sleep peacefully in the tree.

At dawn, the rooster woke up and for a moment he forgot where he was. He thought he was still at the farm where his job was to wake the whole house in the morning. Now with standing on his toes, he flapped his wings and crowed with enthusiasm. But instead of farmers who woke up to hear him crowed but he woke a sleeping fox not far from the tree. Fox quickly looked over at the rooster and thought that he got a very tasty breakfast. He quickly approached the tree where the roosters perched, and said politely:

"Welcome to our forests, the great lord. I cannot speak how glad I am to meet you in this place. I feel confident that we will become good friends."

"I feel flattered, Mr. Nice Guy." The rooster said shyly. "If you really want to, go to the door of my house under the tree, my maid will let you come in."

Fox was hungry it did not suspect anything, walking toward the hole under the tree like the rooster said, and in the blink of an eye of the dog that was sleeping in the hole of the tree caught him.

Who is going to cheat, will receive its own consequences.

Joko Tarup and Seven Angels (Joko Tarup dan Tujuh Bidadari)

Joko Tarup and Seven Angels

Once upon a time there was a widow who lived in the village of Dadapan.  She had a son whose name was Joko Tarup.  Dadapan village was close to a wood so Joko Tarup liked to go to the wood.  He liked hunting for animals with his blowpipe.

One day when he was in the wood he saw a beautiful rainbow and he saw seven angels went down through it.  He came closer and searched for them.  The seven angels were swimming and taking a bath in a lake.  Joko Tarup looked at them while hiding behind trees.  When they had finished taking a bath, they flew through the rainbow to heaven.

The next day he saw the same thing again.  This time Joko Tarup had an idea.  He searched for their dress and when he found them he took one of them.  As they had finished swimming and taking a bath, they looked for their dress.  One of them could not find her dress.  Her friends had to come back to heaven so they left her.  She was crying while staying in the water.  Joko Tarup approached her.

“Why are you crying lady?”

“I lose my dress so I cannot go home”

“Where is your home?”

“I live in heaven.  I’m an angel.  My name is Nawang Wulan.  But I lose my dress so I cannot fly anymore”

“If you don’t mind I will take my mother’s dress for you”

“OK, please do”

“Wait for me here, I’ll be back”

Then Joko Tarup went home to take his mother’s dress and gave it to Nawang Wulan.  He asked her to stay at his house with his mother.  Not long after that Joko Tarup married Nawang Wulan.

As an angel Nawang Wulan had spiritual power.  She had ability which far above human being.  She could cook rice with just a bar of rice and when it had done the bowl will be full of rice.  But there was one condition.  The bowl must not be opened before it has done.  Joko Tarup was very surprised with her wife’s ability. He was very curious about it.  So when Nawang Wulan was away he opened the bowl.  Consequently Nawang’s spiritual power disappeared.  She had to cook as ordinary human being.

Several months later Nawang Wulan gave birth to a beautiful baby girl.  Her name was Nawang Asih.  The birth of Nawang Asih added happiness to Joko Tarup and Nawang Wulan.
Since Nawang Wulan could not cook efficiently anymore, she needed more rice than usual.  The stock of rice in their store room diminished rapidly.  Then one day when she took rice there she was very surprised.  Nawang Wulan found her angel dress.  It was hidden there under piles of rice.  She immediately wore it and talked to Joko Tarup.

“My dear husband, now I know what you did to me”

“Forgive me, my dear.  I admit that I did this because I love you”

“I love you too.  But now I find my dress.  I must come back to heaven.  I am an angel.  My place is not here.  I have to go now.”

“How about Nawang Asih?  She needs you”

“I will leave her but don’t worry.  I will take care of her.  Anytime she needs me I will be here.  For that purpose please build a tower. When Nawang Asih cries put her there then calls my name. I will come immediately.  But I will be invisible to you.  Good bye dear”

Then Joko Tarup built a tower behind his house.  Every time Nawang Asih cried he would put her there.  Nawang Wulan would come and take care of Nawang Asih.

Dia memiliki seorang putra bernama Joko Tarup.

Jadi, ketika Nawang Wulan sedang pergi ia membuka mangkuk. Akibatnya kekuatan spiritual Nawang menghilang. Dia harus memasak seperti manusia biasa.

Beberapa bulan kemudian Nawang Wulan melahirkan seorang bayi perempuan yang cantik.
Namanya Nawang Asih.

Lalu suatu hari ketika ia mengambil beras dia sangat terkejut.
Nawang Wulan menemukan baju bidadarinya.

Chip and Dale

Chip and Dale

One day, when the sun shone brightly, Chip and Dale found a piece of wood. They got an idea of making a see-saw with it.

All afternoon, Chip and Dale played see-saw cheerfully. But when they came home they found that some of their nuts were gone. They were very angry.

“Let’s pretend to go out to play tomorrow,” suggested Chip, “but always watch our nuts.”

The next day, when they were playing see-saw, they saw a squirrel walking towards their house. “Hmmm…give me a nut,” whispered Dale.

Chip gave a nut to Dale. Then he put the nut on one end of the see-saw. When the squirrel went to steal some nuts, Chip and Dale jumped together on the other end of the see-saw. The nut flew through the air and dropped down right between the ears of the squirrel who ran with scare.

Mereka sangat marah.

"Mari kita berpura-pura pergi keluar untuk bermain besok," usul Chip, "tetapi selalu mengawasi kacang-kacang kita."

Keesokan harinya, ketika mereka sedang bermain jongkat-jungkit, mereka melihat seekor tupai berjalan menuju rumah mereka. "Hmmm…beri saya sebuah kacang," bisik Dale.

The Sick Wolf and The Sheep (Serigala Yang Sakit dan Domba)

The Sick Wolf and The Sheep

There was once a starving wolf in a sorry state. He had been obliged to flee from a pack of dogs, and for many days he had found nothing to eat. He spied a little white sheep and thought: “At last! Here is a meal for me!”

“Little white sheep,” he said to her. “Could you please bring me a drop of water from the river? As you can see, I am very unwell. If you can bring me something to drink, I will be able to find something to eat.”

Said the little sheep, “then you will already have found yourself something to eat!” and skipped off in the opposite direction.

"Domba putih kecil," kata serigala padanya.

Future Tense

Future Tense is used for showing activity or event happens in the future.
For showing the future we can use will/shall and be+going to.

Will/Shall for showing future activity in general and it’s usually without any plan. And be+going to for showing future activity in specific or with plan.

Will used for all subjects (They, We, You, I, She, He, It)
Shall used only for subjects We and I.

And be1 for be+going to
Is for subjects she, He, It
Are for subjects They, We, You.
Am for subject I.

And here the pattern of future tense using will and shall before we explain the functions of it:

Will/Shall
Verbal:

( + ) Subject + Will/Shall + Verb1 + Object
We shall go to Tokyo tomorrow.
I shall go to Tokyo tomorrow.
They will go to Tokyo tomorrow.
You will go to Tokyo tomorrow.
She will go to Tokyo tomorrow.
He will go to Tokyo tomorrow.
It will go to Tokyo tomorrow.
Note: After modal Will/Shall must be Verb1 or Infinitive.

( - ) Subject + Will/Shall + Not + Verb1 + Object
We shall not go to Tokyo tomorrow.
I shall not go to Tokyo tomorrow.
They will not go to Tokyo tomorrow.
You will not go to Tokyo tomorrow.
She will not go to Tokyo tomorrow.
He will not go to Tokyo tomorrow.
It will not go to Tokyo tomorrow.
Note: For negative form only add not after Modal Will/Shall and the Verb still Verb1.

( ? ) Will/Shall + Subject + Verb1 + Object?
Shall we go to Tokyo tomorrow?
Shall i go to Tokyo tomorrow?
Will they go to Tokyo tomorrow?
Will you go to Tokyo tomorrow?
Will she go to Tokyo tomorrow?
Will he go to Tokyo tomorrow?
Will it go to Tokyo tomorrow?
Note: In interrogative form move Modal Will/Shall in front of the subjects. And the answer can be Yes/No

Nominal:

( + ) Subject + Will/Shall + be + Object of Complement
We shall be in Tokyo tomorrow.
I shall be in Tokyo tomorrow.
They will be in Tokyo tomorrow.
You will be in Tokyo tomorrow.
She will be in Tokyo tomorrow.
He will be in Tokyo tomorrow.
It will be in Tokyo tomorrow.
Note: Nominal in positive add be because after Modal Will/Shall isn’t Verb.

( - ) Subject + Will/Shall + Not + be + Object of Complement.
We shall not be in Tokyo tomorrow.
I shall not be in Tokyo tomorrow.
They will not be in Tokyo tomorrow.
You will not be in Tokyo tomorrow.
She will not be in Tokyo tomorrow.
He will not be in Tokyo tomorrow.
It will not be in Tokyo tomorrow.
Note: In negative just add not after Will/Shall.

( ? ) Will/Shall + Subject + be + Object of Complement?
Shall we be in Tokyo tomorrow?
Shall i be in Tokyo tomorrow?
Will they be in Tokyo tomorrow?
Will you be in Tokyo tomorrow?
Will she be in Tokyo tomorrow?
Will he be in Tokyo tomorrow?
Will it be in Tokyo tomorrow?
Note: The same like Verbal form move Modal Will/Shall in front of the subjects in interrogative form. And the answer can be Yes/No.

Be + Going to

They are going to travel the world next month.
We are going to travel the world next month.
You are going to travel the world next month.
I am going to travel the world next month.
She is going to travel the world next month.
He is going to travel the world next month.

You are not going to travel the world next month.
I am not going to travel the world next month.
She is not going to travel the world next month.
He is not going to travel the world next month.
It is not going to travel the world next month.
Note: In negative sentence just add not after is, are, and am.

( ? ) Be1 + Subject + Going to + Verb1 + Object?
Are they going to travel the world next month?
Are we going to travel the world next month?
Are you going to travel the world next month?
Am I going to travel the world next month?
Is she going to travel the world next month?
Is he going to travel the world next month?
Is it going to travel the world next month?
Note: Move be1 (Is, Are, Am) in front of the subjects.

Nominal:
( + ) Subject + be1 + Going to + be1 + Object of Complement.
They are going to be in New York next month.
We are going to be in New York next month.
You are going to be in New York next month.
I am going to be in New York next month.
She is going to be in New York next month.

They are not going to be in New York next month.
We are not going to be in New York next month.
You are not going to be in New York next month.
I am not going to be in New York next month.
She is not going to be in New York next month.
He is not going to be in New York next month.
It is not going to be in New York next month.

( ? ) Be1 + Subject + Going to + be1 + Object of Complement?
Are they going to be in New York next month?
Are we going to be in New York next month?
Are you going to be in New York next month?
Am I going to be in New York next month?
Is she going to be in New York next month?
Is he going to be in New York next month?
Is it going to be in New York next month?

OK. Now to make it clear the differences between the uses of will/shall and be+going to, let’s check the explanation out.

The functions of Will/Shall:
1. For showing activity will be done in the future in general.
Example:
- He will send the postcard.
- I shall go to Tokyo tomorrow.

2. For showing vow/engagement in the future.
Example:
- He will meet you by ten.
- She will help you with your homework tomorrow.
3. For showing requirement.
Example:
- He will give you a good dictionary if you go with him.
- I shall finish this task if you provide me all material for making it.

4. It’s used for begging someone to do something.
Example:
- Will you help me to take my ATM card in my bag?
- Will you write me an application letter?

The functions of be + Going to:
1. The be going to form expresses the subject’s intention to perform a certain future action.
2. The intention is always premeditated and there is usually also the idea that someone preparation for the action has already been made.
Example:
- I am going to meet my friends at the café at seven.
- She is going to call me after dinner.

Long enough explanation hehehe.... OK see yaa in next tenses explanations. (dee-english)
